Grooming is not just about how a dog looks when they leave the salon — it’s about how they feel during the process and how grooming impacts them long-term.
Kate is the primary groomer at Freshwater Paws, and her approach has been shaped by years of hands-on experience, continued education, and working with dogs of all temperaments, coat types, and
grooming histories. Over time, one principle has remained constant: pushing dogs past their limits or prioritising aesthetics over welfare creates long-term issues for dogs, owners, and groomers alike.

Every dog is assessed as an individual. Age, breed, coat condition, previous grooming experiences, and temperament are all carefully considered. Kate works within what each dog can safely and comfortably tolerate on the day, building trust over time.
